About Us

Double Downs was formed in 2005, initially named Double Downs Blackjack Tournaments. We started off with just two tables, with a specific tournament format that could entertain a large crowd. It was successful, however it became clear that most clients wanted the whole casino experience, so in 2007 we became Double Downs Casino Theme Nights.

In all that time, we've conducted countless events and parties all over the homes, offices and function centres of Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and as far wide as Bathurst. We pride ourselves on bringing a quality service to your occasion and can wholeheartedly say that we've yet to find a dissatisfied customer. Furthermore we enjoy what we do. Our Croupiers have as much fun as do the guests of the event.

To say that we have the best professional croupiers in town isn't just lip service. They were all trained at an established casino, most of them at Star City. Indeed, many of them still hold a position at Star City, dealing for Double Downs on their days off. They have had years of experience in the business, learning to deal multiple games, mastering the technical skills required whilst connecting with the players in a polite and friendly manner. Day in, day out, they deal with people young and old, loud and quiet, experienced and complete novices. It is their job to not only deal the game to a high level, but also to make your guests feel comfortable.

A Typical Event

We'll liase with the venue and get access into the room as early as we can to set up. Usually this occurs in the mid afternoon. Set up only takes an hour or so, depending on the number of tables of course, but this early set up, as any events manager will testify to, removes a large portion of the stress of organising such an event. The croupiers will arrive just before your requested start time.

Most events are evening affairs. The gaming typically starts about half an hour after the guests start arriving. You'll have up to three and a half hours of casino action from that start time. People come to the table on a first come, first served basis. Each player will be given 'x' amount of play chips. They can play as many or as few hands/spins as they like. When they're ready to leave the table, the croupier will record their name and score. Should that player wish to return to play later on, the croupier will refer to the recorded score and give the player that amount of chips back to carry on.

You'll find that there'll be some hard core players who'll play nearly the whole time, there'll be plenty of players breezing in and out of the action and there will also be quite a few who'll get their entertainment from just watching. Remember, many of these people may never have set foot in a casino, so this is all quite a thrill and new for them.

At the conclusion of the gaming, the croupiers will announce 'last three hands or spins'. They'll confer with eachother to see who recorded the highest score/scores.

We'll pack up and leave at the earliest possible convenience. We'll wait til most of the crowd have dispersed before doing any heavy lifting.
